Vehicle Wrap Visibility From the Inside Out

The more surface area of an object, the more visual impact it tends to have.

In the vehicle world, this simply means you’re far more likely to notice a semi than you are a motorcycle. But the visible appearance of an object can alter this equation. Consider this: you’re more apt to notice a yellow hornet go flying by than you are to notice your average honey bee. That’s because color plays an important role in visibility. This is true for vehicles as well. A small vehicle wrapped in brightly colored vinyl has more visibility than a larger, unwrapped van. What can we learn from all this? Adding color to your vehicle will increase visibility, and this increased vehicle wrap visibility will heighten the chance that people will act on what they see.

Vehicle Wrap Visibility Statistic

The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), 98% of in-car audiences notice vehicle graphics. A single vehicle can garner between 30,000 and 70,000 impressions a day. And almost 1 in 3  make their buying decisions based on this type of advertising. These quick numbers show that conservatively at least 10,000 people a day make their decisions based on a billboard, sign, or vehicle graphics. These facts further confirm vehicle wrap effectiveness:

  • Vehicle wrap graphics are far less expensive per impression than any other form of advertising.
  • Unlike other marketing options, people can’t change the channel or toss the add into the recycle bin.
  • The average wrapped vehicle will receive at least 9 million impressions over the course of a single year (based on the average of 15, 000 miles per year).
  • 2 out of 3 people will use their smartphone in response to seeing outdoor advertising. (This includes billboards, signs, and vehicle graphics.)
  • 32% have visited the advertiser’s website as a result of the advertising.

Can you imagine what would happen if you boosted your car’s visibility by wrapping the entire surface, including your windows? Your views would skyrocket! Which would mean increased traffic to your business and more revenue in your pocket.

Myths About Vehicle Wraps include Fading Over Time

The Science of Perforated Vinyl

Perforated vinyl makes wrapping every inch of your car possible — even your windows. It adds color to the outside but doesn’t decrease visibility for the people inside the car. How can that even be possible? Perforated vinyl literally tricks your brain into what your eyes see and what they don’t see. Here’s how:

Vinyl producers cut little holes across the vinyl, spaced evenly between the printable white vinyl surface. Because bright colors draw your eye more naturally than dark colors, your brain doesn’t see the holes. It fills them in with the missing parts of the image instead.

The back side of the vinyl is typically black, for the very same reason. From inside the vehicle, your eye doesn’t see the black, but instead sees the light shining through from the outside. Your eye fills in the tiny missing pieces.

This not only works great for wrapping your vehicle windows in high-visibility color, it works on other surfaces as well. If you need help to block sun or want more privacy on a street facing window or glass-walled office space in your business, perforated vinyl will rise to the challenge. So whether you need greater visibility for your business or want to add privacy or shade to your office
